Installation Guide for Household Central Air Conditioning

The installation of household central air conditioning is a massive project, which includes multiple steps such as early planning, house surveying, mid-term construction, pipeline layout, and later maintenance. Whether the installation and construction techniques are standardized and exquisite will directly affect the later use effect. Today we are going to popularize the complete and standardized installation process of central air conditioning.

ac-On-site-Positioning

1. On-site Positioning

Before installing central air conditioning, the owner, designer, installer, and plumber need to have a collective communication and determine the indoor unit position and pipeline direction on site according to the design drawings, in order to determine the buried wires for water and electricity and the height of the ceiling. The height of the ceiling is usually increased by 50-60mm on the basis of the thickness of the internal unit, which is most suitable, but it does not occupy too much top space and can cleverly hide the internal unit and supporting pipelines.

2. Installation of Indoor Units

The first step for the installation construction team to enter the site is to lift the indoor units or fan coils. After unpacking and confirming that the internal unit is not damaged, a protective cover should be used to protect it from dust, and seals should be affixed to the air outlet and return air inlet. During specific installation, a level (ruler) should be used to measure whether the internal unit is level. The distance between the internal unit and the roof should be greater than 1cm to avoid noise caused by resonance between the machine and the roof during operation. In addition, a 1% slope should be considered for the ceiling of the internal unit, and the side connected to the condensate water should be slightly lower to avoid the condensate water not being discharged. Finally, wrap the connection between the piping and the indoor unit with insulation hoses to prevent condensation water leakage.

3. Installation of Refrigerant Pipes

The refrigerant pipe is crucial for installing central air conditioning, and the following three points must be done:

(1) Refrigerant pipes must not be directly welded to copper pipes. All welding points should be at the connection between copper pipes and branch pipes.

(2) During the welding process between pipes, nitrogen gas must be injected into the copper pipe, also known as nitrogen filling welding technology. The purpose of this technology is to use nitrogen gas to maintain pressure, so that there is no air inside the copper pipe, in order to avoid carbon deposits on the inner wall during welding from entering the compressor during formal operation and causing malfunctions.

(3) After welding the pipeline, high-pressure nitrogen should be used to blow ash inside the pipeline and perform cleaning treatment.

4. Nitrogen Filling and Pressure Maintenance

After welding is completed, the copper tube must be filled with nitrogen to maintain pressure and undergo a pressure test, usually for 24 hours, to ensure that the copper tube does not leak at all. If R410 refrigerant is used, the pressure inside the pipe needs to be maintained at 40 kilograms. If R22 refrigerant is used, the pressure inside the pipe needs to be maintained at 20 kilograms. If the pressure gauge drops during the testing process, the welding of the refrigerant pipe should be checked. In addition, pressure gauges are usually kept until the external unit is powered on for testing before being removed to fully test whether the refrigerant system can operate safely.

Installation-AC-Condensate-Pipe

5. Installation of Condensate Pipe

The condensate pipe should ensure a slope greater than 1%. If it cannot be directly achieved, larger size piping can be used to create a slope using the pipe diameter, and the pipe should be connected to the outdoor or floor drain. At the same time, a vent should be installed at the standard position on the condensate pipe, with the vent facing downwards, to avoid the accumulation of dirt in the pipeline and ensure the smooth discharge of condensate water. After installation, it is necessary to conduct drainage and full water tests to check whether the drainage is unobstructed and whether the pipeline system is leaking.

AC-Outdoor-Unit-Installation

6. Outdoor Unit Installation

The fan exhaust outlet of the outdoor unit should not have any other obstructions within a range of 50 centimeters to ensure smooth heat dissipation during operation. In addition, it is necessary to install shock absorbers or weld reinforcement at the landing feet of the external unit to reduce operating noise and damage to the wall.

AC-Vacuum-Pumping-Refrigerant-Tubes

7. Vacuum Pumping of Refrigerant Tubes

After the installation of the external unit is completed, it is necessary to evacuate the refrigerant tube and measure the vacuum degree of the system with a vacuum gauge before filling the refrigerant. During the vacuum pumping process, the speed of the vacuum pump should be adjusted according to the vacuum gauge display to ensure that the air inside the tube is completely expelled. The vacuum degree must strictly reach ≤ 5 Pa to be considered qualified.

8. Fill Refrigerant

After the above work is completed, the refrigerant valve can be opened to release the refrigerant that comes with the external unit. Weighing and filling must be carried out using a pole scale, electronic scale, dial scale, or other weighing devices. Usually, air conditioning manufacturers will indicate the correct filling amount of the equipment on the nameplate, and reaching this amount is sufficient. Finally, perform a power on test and make appropriate supplements until debugging is completed.

AC-Measurement-Installation-Air-Vents

9. Measurement and Installation of Air Vents

It is recommended to use ABS material for the air outlet to reduce condensation of water. The return air outlet can usually be installed together with the maintenance port to form a complete return air outlet. When repairing and cleaning, the return air outlet can be directly removed. The air outlet cannot be installed near the light strip to avoid blocking the air outlet during air conditioning heating.

The above is the complete installation process of central air conditioning. In addition to providing high-quality process technology products as always, Sparkey also implements industry-leading 5A site installation service standards in installation, strictly regulating various aspects such as installation personnel qualifications, protective equipment, construction specifications, professional tools, installation materials, construction technology, and operation and commissioning. For example, it requires 100% high-quality brand selection for installation materials, 100% training and certification for installation personnel, 100% control of 104 installation details, 100% high standard inspection, 100% operation and commissioning, and other 5A level service standards. Only in this way can we truly control every aspect of installation, allowing consumers to be successful and enjoyable with our air conditioning systems.
