  • Hotel Building Overview:

The hotel has a building area of approximately 20,000 m² and includes buildings 1 through 6. It features deluxe boutique rooms, the Restaurant, CEO Hot Spring Club, a conference center, a chess and card room, a gym, a business center, and more.

  • Problems:

Since its commissioning in 2012, the hotel's central air conditioning system has played a crucial role in providing a comfortable environment. However, with the increasing age of the equipment, system aging has become a prominent issue, leading to clogged heat exchangers and pipes, damaged components, and frequent machine malfunctions. These problems directly impact the guest experience and disrupt the hotel's normal operations.

The hotel's central air conditioning system consists of 13 VRV units from a Japanese brand, with a total cooling capacity of 240 HP, using R22 refrigerant, and the outdoor units are installed on the ground. Due to equipment aging, the compressor failure rate is over 50%, resulting in high power consumption, excessive system noise, and poor comfort, especially with severely inadequate cooling performance in hot weather. These issues have drawn significant attention from the hotel management.

  • Solutions:

Considering the hotel's specific needs and operational characteristics, Sparkey proposed an innovative "Midea MDV8 Outdoor Unit Replacement and Retrofit Solution." The core of this solution lies in replacing only the outdoor unit, while retaining the indoor unit, copper pipes, power cords, and communication lines. This significantly shortens the retrofit cycle and minimizes disruption to the hotel's normal operations.

In terms of technical implementation, Sparkey utilized proprietary technology to ensure the efficiency and precision of the retrofit process. The introduction of the MDV8 Renewal Series outdoor unit, combined with full DC inverter technology, not only improves the system's coefficient of performance (COP) but also uses AI algorithms to monitor heat exchanger blockage and refrigerant degradation in real time, ensuring the efficient operation of the air conditioning system. Furthermore, the introduction of Midea iButler equips the outdoor unit with a network module, enabling cloud control. Users can remotely connect and control the device via a mobile app or web interface, further enhancing the energy efficiency of the air conditioning operation.

  • Highlights:

    • System Upgrade and Energy Efficiency Improvement: By introducing the MDV8 upgraded outdoor unit series, the air conditioning system has been upgraded to full DC inverter technology, significantly improving the energy efficiency ratio and meeting the building energy conservation requirements under the "dual carbon" target.

    • Intelligent Equipment Management: Utilizing AI algorithms and Midea iButler's cloud control technology, intelligent management of the air conditioning system has been achieved, improving system operating efficiency and maintenance convenience.

    • Reduced Maintenance Costs: By retaining most of the original system components, the cost of modification has been reduced, while subsequent maintenance costs and complexity have also been lowered.

    • Application of Environmentally Friendly Refrigerant: The new system uses an environmentally friendly refrigerant, reducing ozone layer depletion and aligning with international environmental trends.

    • Precise Temperature Control and Comfort: The new system provides more precise temperature control, improving indoor temperature fluctuations and enhancing guest comfort.

  • Results:

In terms of construction, the Sparkey team efficiently completed the renovation work, ensuring that the hotel's normal operations were not affected to the greatest extent possible. Regarding comfort, the upgraded system maintained precise temperature control even in inclement weather, with no reduction in cooling or heating capacity and a temperature control accuracy of 0.5℃, providing guests with a more comfortable environment.

In terms of energy conservation, the actual power consumption after the renovation was reduced by more than 30%, significantly improving the hotel's energy efficiency. Furthermore, after the renovation was completed, the hotel management expressed great satisfaction with the air conditioning performance, and guests' stay experience was significantly improved.
