Duct-type AC unit is kind of similar to a wall-mounted AC, both of the room unit needs to be placed in the upper part of the room. And both systems have the same form: 1 outdoor unit and 1 room unit. But there are still many differences.
1. Installation Position:
Duct-type AC: Ceiling
Wall-mounted AC: Wall
2. Installation Requirement:
In terms of installation requirement, duct AC have higher requirements than wall mounted air conditioners for two main reasons:
The house needs to be renovated (redecorated). As a concealed air conditioner, the air duct unit needs to be installed on the ceiling, which means that we need to make a good plan for the layout of the ceiling and pipes during the decoration. If the house has been decorated and has not been planned in advance, it is already late to buy the air duct unit. On the contrary, the installation of wall mounted air conditioners is simpler. Regardless of whether the house is decorated or not, you can install wall mounted air conditioners by preparing power sockets and air conditioning holes (generally, families can meet these conditions).
2. The floor height should be sufficient. Generally speaking, the height of the internal unit of a duct fan is approximately 30 cm, which is similar to the height of the internal unit of a wall mounted air conditioner. However, the duct fan has longer pipes than the wall mounted air conditioner, and the duct fan needs to be hidden on the ceiling. Therefore, the ceiling space needs to be made larger, occupying a certain floor height. If the floor height is not enough, installing a ceiling and duct fan will only make the space appear oppressive.
3. Comfort:
On the premise of the same horse power, the comfort of the air duct unit is better than that of the wall mounted air conditioner. This is due to the unique return and supply air design of the air duct unit. When the air conditioner is running, the airflow circulation is more uniform, the temperature control is better, so the comfort level of the human body will be higher.
4. Cost:
Under the same horse power, the cost of a duct air conditioner is often more than double the price of wall mounted air conditioners. In addition, the maintenance cost and difficulty of ducted air conditioners are also higher than those of wall mounted air conditioners, as their prices, processes, and design structures are different.
5. Appearance:
As mentioned above, ducted air conditioners are hidden air conditioners, with internal units and pipes hidden on the ceiling. Therefore, in terms of visual effects, ducted air conditioners have a better sense of spatial unity, while exposed pipes and power cords of wall mounted air conditioners can more or less affect the atmosphere and appearance of the home.
6. Noise:
Although it is said that the noise value of air conditioners is related to the configuration of air conditioning parameters (horsepower, air volume, constant frequency/frequency conversion), the noise of air duct ac units is generally smaller than wall mounted units, because air duct machines are installed on the ceiling, which reduces the transmission of noise.
7. Application:
The horsepower greatly determines the difference in their applications: duct unit are not only suitable for large living rooms, but also for small bedrooms, while wall mounted air conditioners can only be used for small and medium-sized living rooms and bedrooms.
